imaginary cathedrals is a short elegy for solo trumpet with piano resonance written as part of my project to take on “mini-commissions” for unaccompanied works during 2020 and 2021.

imaginary cathedrals is an exploration of space, using piano resonance and various degrees of muting to create the effect of distance from the audience despite never physically moving farther away. The title is a reference to this illusory space which does not actually exist outside of the listener’s ear.
