breathe. Endlessly is a short rondo for solo viola written as part of my project to take on “mini-commissions” for unaccompanied works during the spring and summer of 2020.

The non-stop, perpetuum mobile theme of the piece comes after a short introduction and undergoes a series of transformations through its repetitions. Interspersed are a series of episodes building on these modifications before the final statement of the theme arrives, integrating many of the variations heard earlier in the piece.
